St. John'S Ce

Disappointment for St John's.

St John's made a good start beating St Bartholomew's by a magnificent 70 runs with Ollie Wood punting the ball to the boundary regularly. After that, the tables turned and in the second match against Hagley Primary, chasing 264 to win after Evan Jones had taken three wickets, a valiant effort at the death saw the boys fall just three runs short scoring 261. Now having to beat the best team to qualify for the semi-finals St John's were really up against it and when they scored just 224 it looked certain that Hartlebury would win by a mile, but some brilliant bowling from Alistair Howard and good all round fielding saw St John's lose by just seven runs. Although St John's were out of the competition, they agreed to play a friendly 10-a-side match against St George's. They dominated the game, scoring 286, to see them win by a huge 53 runs. Heronswood were deserved winners in the final against Hartlebury winning by 20 runs.   more...
